6. Cut Out Letters
These cut out letters, which can be downloaded from page 6a, are useful for all sorts of projects and users can actually feel the shape of the letters and become familiar with them. This section provides some useful sheets of letters that can be printed on white or coloured card, then cut out and used in many projects. They can also be printed on magnetic sheets and used on a whiteboard or any metal surface.
The Party Piece is simply four party cups hot glued together then a line is cut all along one length of the cups. The card letters are gently pushed a little way into the cut along the top, and held in place with a small dab of hot glue. The cups can then be fastened to a base, secured at each end using a sticky tab or similar.
Experiment with cut out letters laid on different coloured sheets of paper when designing posters and notices.
Bold outlines make cutting out easy, and the photograph shows a simple way of cutting inside the letters B, D, O, P, Q, and R. First make a small hole in the centre of the space to be cut out, then cut out from this centre hole to the inner rim of the letter several times with small craft scissors. Finally cut around the inner rim as shown.
